- The youth of Rigolet Labrador who did the filming past two weeks
Not very often people learn from young people. It was a great past two weeks getting a better understanding on what it’s like to live in a small community. From this group of filmmakers I learned that you don’t always need to be caught up with the modern lifestyle of the western world. The only thing that keeps them going is the people around them. We asked if they would move out of this community if they got a chance. Their response was “no this is our home”.
The past week also gave me a chance to think back about how it used to be when I was growing up in Arviat. When everybody waved at you and when everybody gave you a good smile and a nod. Just to think about how this small community is going to grow and to know they’ll always be a family.
